One Direction's third album, "Midnight Memories, won't be officially released until Nov. 25, 2013, but based on pre-orders, the "Midnight Memories" album (deluxe edition) has rocketed into the Top 10 of iTunes this week in numerous countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Finland, Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway. "Midnight Memories" is already No. 1 in Sweden.
The huge surge in pre-orders happened after One Direction announced on Oct. 21, 2013, that people who pre-order "Midnight Memories" on iTiunes will automatically get four tracks from the album in advance: "Story of My Life" on Oct. 28, 2013, followed by another track (to be announced) on Nov. 18, another track (to be announced) on Nov. 20 and another track (to be announced) on Nov. 22.
Meanwhile, Fifth Harmony's first EP, "Better Together," was released in the U.S. and Canada on Oct. 22, 2013. "Better Together" debuted at No. 2 on iTunes in the U.S. and No. 6 on iTunes in Canada. The official U.S. chart debut for "Better Together" will be announced by Billboard on Oct. 30, 2013. It remains to be seen how much staying power "Better Together" will have on the charts, since "The X Factor" U.S. alumni have not had gold or platinum sales in America. A few of these alumni have had their albums debut high on the Billboard 200 chart due to strong first-week sales, but then the albums don't last long on the chart because sales plummet in subsequent weeks.
Both groups are signed to Syco Music, the record company co-owned by Simon Cowell and Sony Music. Cowell mentored One Direction and Fifth Harmony on "The X Factor."
Each group formed when "The X Factor" put together five contestants who originally auditioned as solo singers but were rejected as solo singers and allowed to continue in the competition on the condition that they form a group.
One Direction is the best-selling act worldwide to emerge from "The X Factor." According to Sony Music, as of October 2013, One Direction has sold 32 million singles, albums and DVDs worldwide.
"Midnight Memories" is expected to debut at No. 1 in several countries' album charts after its official release on Nov. 25, 2013. One Direction's first two albums ("Up All Night" and "Take Me Home") also debuted at No. 1 in many countries. One Direction is in the Guinness Book of World Records as the only U.K. group to have its first two albums debut at No. 1 in the U.S.
As previously reported, "Midnight Memories" has 14 tracks on the standard edition and 18 tracks on the deluxe edition.
As previously reported, "Midnight Memories" is scheduled for a worldwide release on Nov. 25, 2013. One Direction's first two albums ("Up All Night" and "Take Me Home") each debuted at No. 1 in several countries. "Midnight Memories" is expected to do the same.
"Best Song Ever," the first single from "Midnight Memories," was a Top 10 hit in several countries when it was released in July 2013. The album's second single, "Story of My Life," will be released on a date to be announced.

According to a press release, Fifth Harmony will have an acoustic version and a Spanish version of "Better Together." Both versions will be released in 2013 on a date to be announced.
In October 2013, Fifth Harmony became the first artist to become part of the Vevo Lift promotion based on fan votes, getting more votes than emerging artists Zedd and "The Voice" U.S. Season 3 winner Cassadee Pope. Up until that point, artists who were selected for the Vevo Lift promotion were chosen by Vevo.
In August 2013, Fifth Harmony (nicknamed 5H) were in New York City for some high-profile appearances, including:

Fifth Harmony and Cher Lloyd teamed up for a North American tour in September 2013. Lloyd headlined the tour. Fifth Harmony was the opening act.
Lloyd came in fourth place on "The X Factor" U.K in 2010. Fifth Harmony came in third place on "The X Factor" U.S. in 2012. They are both signed to Syo Music/Epic Records, which has mostly failed in getting hits for "X Factor" U.S. alumni.
Fifth Harmony's next concert tour is as the opening act for Demi Lovato on her "Neon Lights" concert trek in North America in February and March 2014. Lloyd and Little Mix (the girl group that won on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2011) are the opening acts on select dates of the tour. Lovato became a judge on "The X Factor" U.S. in 2012.

Although "Better Together" had a high debut on iTunes, sales were a flop for Fifth Harmony's first single, "Miss Movin' On." The song debuted at No. 85 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and the song peaked at No. 76. The song got a brief sales boost after Fifth Harmony performed "Miss Movin' On" on NBC's "Today" on July 18, 2013, when it peaked at No. 19 on the iTunes (U.S.) Top 100 Songs chart. However, "Miss Movin' On" quickly dropped down to the lower half of the iTunes chart and the song failed to become a big hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
