As we told you back in October, One Direction will be immortalized forever in wax at Madame Tussauds in London. The museum officially announced the news on March 11.
"We have been overwhelmed by requests for us to feature One Direction," said Global Head of Marketing, Liz Wells.
"The boys have been top of the most wanted personalities list in London, New York and Sydney for the last 12 months, so we are delighted we can now satisfy public demand by bringing their figures to each of these cities in a special ‘world tour’, which will eventually take in more locations," she continued.
"Louis, Liam, Harry, Zayn and Niall have been involved throughout the sculpting process and our studios team have had great fun working with them at two sittings, taking hundreds of precise measurements and discussing the style their figures will be portrayed in."
"We actually first heard when we were over at Madame Tussauds looking at the figures so we were even more like WOW we're going to get one of these made," One Direction's Liam Payne said in a interview with Madame Tussauds. "They are so amazing as well. The quality of the work that goes on over there is mad."
"This is insane," band mate Zayn Malik added. "All the biggest stars around the world get these wax figures made of them and why are we, five normal lads, getting these made? It's an amazing honor, really cool and we can't wait to see them."
The One Direction wax figures will be traveling the world after their premiere in a special One Direction area of Madame Tussauds in London on April 18. They will remain there until July 11 when they will be flying to Madame Tussauds New York from July 19 to October 11. After that it's off to Sydney, Australia where the figures will be October 24 to January 28, 2014. For additional information visit onedirection.madametussauds.com.
