"X Factor" stars One Direction, Demi Lovato and Cher Lloyd were among the winners for the 2014 Teen Choice Awards at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards, which took place on Aug. 10 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The show was originally supposed to take place at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion, but was changed due to a water main break near the UCLA campus that resulted in water damage to Pauley Pavilion. Fox had the U.S. telecast of the show.

One Direction did not attend the ceremony because the group had concerts on the East Coast, but Lovato and Lloyd were at the awards show. Lovato and Lloyd performed their song "Really Don't Care," which won the prize for Choice Summer Song. Lovato also won the award for Choice Summer Music Star: Female.

One Direction won nine prizes: Choice Music Group, Choice Song: Group for "Story of My Life", Choice Break-Up Song for "Story of My Life", Choice Love Song for "You & I", Choice Summer Tour for the "Where We Are" tour, Choice Social Media King, Choice Male Hottie, Choice Fanatic Fans and Choice Twit, an award given for being on Twitter. Meanwhile, One Direction's Harry Styles won the award for Choice Smile. It was a clean sweep, since they won in all the categories in which they were nominated. One Direction had prerecorded acceptance speeches that were shown at the ceremony.

One Direction and Lovato have received several Teen Choice Awards in the past. Fifth Harmony (a girl group from "The X Factor" U.S.) was nominated but did not win any 2014 Teen Choice Awards. Fifth Harmony was at the awards show as a presenter.

Voting for the awards show opened on June 17, 2014, at the official Teen Choice Awards website. The show asks that only people ages 13 to 19 vote, but there's realistically no way of knowing the ages of the people who vote online.

Sarah Hyland from "Modern Family"and Tyler Posey from "Teen Wolf" co-hosted the 2014 Teen Choice Awards. Other celebrities who appeared on the show included Taylor Swift, Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, Victoria Justice, Collins Key, Laura and Vanessa Marano, Ian Somerhalder, Odeya Rush, Brenton Thwaites, Ariana Grande, Hilary Duff, Megan Fox, Kevin Hart, Colton Haynes, Josh Hutcherson, Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Lea Michele, The Band Perry, Keegan Allen, Tyler Blackburn, Lucy Hale, Ian Harding, MKTO, Jake T. Austin, Big Show, Jamie Blackley, Kellan Lutz, Chloë Grace Moretz, Cody Simpson, Hailee Steinfeld, Gregg Sulkin, Bella Thorne and Zendaya. The show also featured performances by Rita Ora, Jason Derulo, MAGIC! and Rixton.

One Direction came in third place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010. The group was formed on the the show when Simon Cowell and other "X Factor" decision makers decided to put five singers (Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson) who originally auditioned as solo contestants into the same group. Cowell was One Direction's mentor on "The X Factor" U.K., and he signed the group to Syco Music, the record company he co-owns with Sony Music. One Direction has since become the biggest-selling worldwide act to emerge from "The X Factor," by having No. 1 hits and sold-out tours in numerous countries.

Fifth Harmony came in third place on "The X Factor" U.S. in 2012. Just like One Direction, the group was formed when Cowell put together five singers (Camila Cabello, Ally Brooke, Normani Hamolton, Dinah Jane Hansen and Lauren Jauregui) who originally auditioned as solo contestants into the same group. Cowell was Fifth Harmony's mentor on the show, and he also signed the group to Syco Music. Fifth Harmony has had modest sales for the group's 2013 EP "Better Together" and the singles from the EP. "BO$$" is the first single from Fifth Harmony's first full-length album. Fifth Harmony performed at several music festivals and has been the opening act for Lovato and Lloyd on separate tours.

Lovato was a judge on "The X Factor" U.S. in 2012 and 2013. She quit the show at the end of the show's third season in December 2013 because she said she wanted to focus on her music career. "The X Factor" U.S. was officially cancelled two months later.

Lloyd came in fourth place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010. Her biggest hit is "Want U Back," which was her first U.S. single and sold 2 million copies in the U.S. Lloyd has been an opening act for Lovato in North America, and has done headlining shows in many countries.
