Members of One Direction, Nicole Scherzinger, Rebecca Ferguson, Ella Henderson and Marvin Humes were among the "X Factor" stars who attended Sony Music's Brit Awards after-party at the Arts Club in London on Feb. 19, 2014.
Unfortunately for One Direction's Niall Horan, who is claustrophobic, he was stuck in elevator for about four minutes at the party. Four minutes stuck in an elevator can seem like eternity for someone who has claustrophobia.
An unnamed source told the Daily Mirror: “Security were frantically trying to get the lift working again but the emergency alarm was down and it simply wouldn’t budge. Everyone was trapped and getting increasingly hot and bothered. Once it was eventually moving again, the management were very apologetic. The lift was briefly closed down while repairs were made.”
The source added that Horan got increasingly panicked until the elevator began working again. According to the Daily Mirror, One Direction security personnel tried to keep people in the elevator from taking photos or video, but a video of Horan trapped in the elevator leaked out anyway and was posted on the Daily Mirror's website.
Sony Music is the record-company partner of "The X Factor." Winners of "The X Factor" get a recording contract with Sony Music. Many non-winning contestants of "The X Factor" are also signed to Sony Music. Simon Cowell co-owns Syco Music with Sony Music.
One Direction's Harry Styles was also at the party. He hung out with his good friends James Corden and director Ben Winston.
One Direction's Liam Payne went to the party with his girlfriend Sophia Smith, whom he's been dating since July 2013.
Former "X Factor" judge Scherzinger went to the party solo, but she was photographed hanging out with Pharrell Williams at the bash. In late 2013, she rekindled her romance with Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, her on-again/off-again boyfriend. Scherzinger also signed to Sony Music in late 2013 after spending most of her recording career with rival Universal Music.
Ferguson came in second place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010.
Henderson came in sixth place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2012. Her first Sony Music album is being planned for release sometime in 2014. The album's title and release date are to be announced.
Humes is a former member of JLS, the singing group that came in second place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2008. He currently co-hosts "The Voice" U.K.
Other stars at the party included Labrinth, Foxes, Rita Ora, Neon Jungle, Example, Rosie Huntington-Whitely and Jason Statham.
As previously reported, One Direction won the prizes for Best British Video (for "Best Song Ever") and Best Brits Global Success and at the 2014 Brit Awards, which took place at the O2 Arena in London on Feb. 19. Corden hosted the Brit Awards ceremony for the fifth time and what he says will be the last time. ITV televised the show live in the U.K. at 8 p.m. GMT.
Corden and Winston co-wrote the "Best Song Ever" video concept. Winston directed the video.
It was the first time that the Brit Awards had the category for Best British Video. The category was voted on by the public via Twitter.
One Direction is now the "X Factor" act with the most Brit Awards. The only other "X Factor" alum to win Brit Awards was JLS, which won two Brit Awards. JLS amicably disbanded in 2013.
