One Direction and Olly Murs nominated for 2014 Brit Awards

"The X Factor" U.K. alumni One Direction and Olly Murs have been nominated for prizes at the 2014 Brit Awards, which takes place at the O2 Arena in London on Feb. 19. The nominations were announced in London on Jan. 9, 2014. The show's host, presenters and performers are to be announced. ITV will televise the show live in the U.K. at 8 p.m. GMT.

One Direction is nominated for two prizes: Best British Group and Best British Single of the Year for "One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks)." [Feb. 11, 2014 update: The Brit Awards announced the nominations for Best British Video. One Direction's "Best Song Ever" is nominated.]

Murs is nominated for Best British Single of the Year for "Dear Darlin'."

With four nominations each, Bastille and Disclosure are the leading nominees for the 2014 Brit Awards.

One Direction has previously won two Brit Awards: Best British Single of the Year (for "What Makes You Beautiful") at the 2012 Brit Awards and Best Brits Global Success at the 2013 Brit Awards.

Murs has been nominated for several Brit Awards but he has not won.

Most of the categories for the Brit Awards are voted on by the public.

On "The X Factor" U.K., One Direction came in third place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010. Murs came in second place in 2009.
