On Dec. 16, 2013, One Direction announced more concerts dates for One Direction's first stadium tour of North America. As previously reported, the tour will take place from August to October 2014. The first batch of tickets went on sale at Live Nation's website on Dec. 7, 2013. After they sold out, more concerts were added in the metropolitan areas with the highest demand, according to Sony Music. One Direction has added more tour dates in Toronto; East Rutherford, N.J.; Foxboro, Mass.; Chicago; Pasadena, Calif.; and Charlotte, N.C. (See the added tour dates below.)

One Direction's 2014 "Where We Are" world tour has already announced stadium concerts in Europe and South America, with the concerts taking place from April to July 2014. One Direction's tours sell out quickly, with many of the concerts selling out a year in advance.

One Direction is the world's biggest-selling act to emerge from "The X Factor." One Direction previously headlined arenas (with capacities of 10,000 to 25,000 people per venue), but the group has now become one of the few music acts that can headline stadiums (with capacities of 40,000 to 60,000 people per venue) around the world.

The group's third album, "Midnight Memories," was released worldwide on Nov. 25, 2013. All of One Direction's first two albums — "Up All Night," "Take Me Home" and "Midnight Memories" — debuted at No. 1 in several countries.
