One person has been arrested and police are searching for three others, including a 15-year-old in connection with a violent home invasion that happened early Tuesday morning in Athens.

Shunquavious Brown, 17, of Sunny Hills Drive, was arrested on numerous charges including: armed robbery; aggravated assault; obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers; gang offenses; driving without a valid license, reckless driving, and two counts of hit and run, according to Athens-Clarke County police.

And investigators have obtained felony arrest warrants for armed robbery, aggravated assault, and violation of the Georgia Gang Act for the remaining suspects: Markeith Laguings, 21, of Fourth Street; Jarrell Gatavais Browner, 17, of Ashley Circle; and a 15-year old male whose name has not been released because of his age, police said.

Around 12:45 a.m. officers responded to a complaint of a fight in progress on Coleridge Court, police spokeswoman Hilda Sorrow said. When officers arrived they were able to determine that an armed robbery had just occurred at an apartment inside of Athens Gardens Apartments, Sorrow said.

The victim told police that two men entered his apartment through an unlocked back door and demanded money while pointing a firearm at him, Sorrow said. There was another suspect who was outside of the residence at the time, she said.
The suspects and the victim got into a scuffled and the victim lost, police said. He was robbed of cash and a quantity of marijuana, Sorrow said.

All of the suspects then fled the residence, but the victim followed them and he was attacked again by the suspects, Sorrow said. The suspects then entered a tan vehicle and left the scene.

A short time later, officers were able to obtain the identity and locate the address of one of the suspects, Sorrow said. Officers observed his residence and saw the suspect’s vehicle enter the neighborhood. Officers then observed five men flee that vehicle on foot. After a brief chase, officers were able to arrest Brown.
