Vagina! Vagina! Vagina! That word has surely been on the lips of the multitudes lately from Republicans in Congress who don’t seem to see forcing women to have unnecessary vaginal probes is a form of state institutionalized rape to the other Republicans who believe in “legitimate rape” and don’t understand women do get pregnant when they are raped! And don't forget the Republicans who feel entitled to pass laws to dictate what women can and cannot do with their vaginas but are too timid to say the word while they vote against the Violence Against Women Act! It just shows how much hypocrisy and ignorance is out there and how women’s vaginas are still under assault from even our elected representatives! But today's Republicans are far from the only problem women have these days when statistics show 1 in 3 women will be penetrated against her will in her lifetime. From female genital mutilation, to congressional over-reach, to anyone who would commit violence against women, we will not be silenced about what women are made to endure.
So what is one to do? Coming to the Vagina Monologues at USC February, 14, 15 or 16 is a start. Even if you’ve heard these poignant stories before, come again, and bring a friend! Stand up! Dance! Be counted! Strike! Let loose your sacred roar! The Vagina Monologues, started many years ago by Eve Ensler, have become a brilliant and creative way women and their vaginas speak out against domestic violence. Be a part of this year's activities, one of which is the Vagina Monologues being held at USC next week.
This year the monologues are being held in conjunction with the One Billion Rising global campaign started by Eve Ensler at part of the annual V-Day activities around the world. For all the details checkout the press release below:

V-Day USC JOINS GLOBAL CAMPAIGN - ONE BILLION RISING - TO STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND GIRLS
February 14, 2013 to be V-Day’s Largest Day of Action Ever
(January 27, 2013, V-Day USC): On February 14, 2013, at 8 PM, V-Day USC will join with activists around the world for ONE BILLION RISING, the largest day of action in the history of V-Day, the global activist movement to end violence against women and girls.
ONE BILLION RISING began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS. On February 14, 2013, V-Day’s 15th anniversary, V-Day USC will join activists, writers, thinkers, celebrities, and women and men across the world as we express their outrage, demand change, strike, dance, and RISE in defiance of the injustices women suffer, demanding an end at last to violence against women.
“When we started V-Day 14 years ago, we had the outrageous idea that we could end violence against women,” said Ensler. “Now, we are both stunned and thrilled to see that this global action is truly escalating and gaining force, with union workers, parliament members, celebrities, and women of all backgrounds coming forward to join the campaign. When we come together on February 14, 2013 to demand an end to violence against women and girls it will be a truly global voice that will rise up.”
V-Day USC will put on the acclaimed performance, The Vagina Monologues, at the Village Gate Theatre February 14-16th, 2013 at 8 PM.
