One 6th-grader in Michigan takes thousands of dollars to school in backpack

A new reports was released to the media on March 13, leaving many wondering how it is possible. A 6th-grader from the state of Michigan reportedly showed up to school with $20,000 dollars. The money was reportedly being kept in the student's backpack.

According to a new report by the New York Daily News, the student is twelve-years-old. She garnered attention reportedly by giving fellow students large sums of money. Per the same report, The Police Chief for the city of Taylor Mary Sclabassi said of what occurred:

"The principal became aware of this when the girl started distributing some of the cash to some fellow students. As high as $500 to some students. Some got as much as $200."

Today has certainly been quite eventful for the world of news. Not only was a new pope elected, but this new story is generating many headlines in the media as well. It is not yet known how or why the student was carrying such an incredibly high amount of money in her backpack.
