OndadeMar Shares 6 Tips To Finding The Best Swimwear For Your Shape

Stumped on what type of swimsuit is best for your body? Check out these tips.

If you are gearing up to shop for your swimsuit of the season, I've got some great tips on what to look for in order to look fabulous! Adriana Montoya, the Creative Director of swim and resort wear brand, OndadeMar, shares tips to finding the best swimwear for your shape.

The Colombian brand has four beautiful freestanding stores in the US (three in Miami and one in Los Angeles) and all of their suits, accessories, and covers are available at and other select retailers. Pricing ranges from $78 for a bikini bottom to $525 for silk dresses that transition seamlessly from poolside to dinner by the beach. Celebrity fans of OndadeMar include Demi Moore, Jessica Alba, Alessandra Ambrosio, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and more.

Women with a petite frame should keep a few things in mind when wearing swim. First, vertical stripes are a great choice because they will elongate any figure. Also, choosing a bikini instead of a one piece or monokini will flatter a small body – try one with small prints.

Tall & Lean

Generally, silhouettes that enhance your figure, like monokinis, are great. Big prints, embroidery, big hardware, ruffles or fringes are perfect for a tall body.

Full-Figure Medium Height

One pieces or bikinis with medium coverage will work best on a medium height with some curves. Solid colors, small prints, and vertical stripes will help elongate the figure.

Top Heavy

If you’re busty, we suggest wearing the halter top style. This way you can tie at the neck with a wider strap and provide more support as needed.

Bottom Heavy

If you are curvier on the hips, then a clean, medium coverage bottom is best. To balance the figure, try to avoid details like ruffles.

Bikinis are your best bet if you have an hourglass figure. That way your best feature (your midriff) does the rest!
