In the opening scene which takes place in the past, Alice helps Cyrus fight off some bad guys who want to kidnap the genie and exploit his powers. Alice is wounded in the battle and Cyrus takes her to the home of the White Rabbit where Mrs. Rabbit uses a poultice to help her recover.
The White Rabbit counseled Cyrus on his relationship with Alice. He warns that the genie’s life might bring harm and even death to Alice so he should set her free. Instead, Cyrus creates a magical cottage cloaked in invisibility where they can hide out comfort and safety.
In the present, Alice and the Knave are on their way to the cottage because Alice knows that is where Cyrus will look for her. First they have to get the White Rabbit because they will need him to help them all escape Wonderland once they are reunited. Alice knows the rabbit must have had a good reason to betray her to the Red Queen and he does indeed. It seems the wicked woman has taken his family hostage in exchange for his services. Will knows where she has hidden them and takes them to a trailer he shared with her when she was simply Anastasia.
Finally, Alice, the Knave and the White Rabbit make it to the invisible cottage. Cyrus isn’t there and Alice is disappointed but then he comes running into the clearing. They are finally reunited but it is brief as the Red Queen strides in right behind Cyrus. It seems Cyrus and the Red Queen have been working together.
This baffles Alice and everyone else. Why would she betray Jafar? The Red Queen explains she did it for Will. She still loves him and wants to be with him. By giving Cyrus to Jafar, the laws of magic could be changed and she could go back in time and do everything differently. She wants to go back and choose to stay with the Knave. Sadly for her, the Knave doesn’t believe her and wants nothing to do with her.
Meanwhile, Jafar has sent a magic cloud to find the Red Queen and kill her. IT is rolling in as our little group is having this big discussion. When lightning strikes, trying to hit the queen, it is the Knave who takes the hit for her. Alice is also injured because she and the Knave are linked to each other. The Knave tells Cyrus that Alice had promised him a wish in exchange for helping her find Cyrus. Cyrus gives him one and he wishes for Alice’s suffering to end.
Instantly she is recovered and back on her feet. Cyrus bands are gone. He is no longer a genie because his genie-hood also caused Alice to suffer. But then they notice the Knave is missing, gone like magic. The Red Queen is crying and the genie’s bottle which she had been holding is gone.
The Knave is now a Genie. He’s seen inside the bottle as the understanding of what has happened hits him. The bottle was apparently tossed in the river in the commotion and no one knows where he is.
We won’t learn anything about his fate until February when “Once Upon A Time in Wonderland” returns on ABC.
