Rose McGowan is going to be returning to “Once Upon a Time’ for an episode later this spring. Hypable shared the news on Jan. 25 that the actress will reprise her role as the young Cora.

Barbara Hershey played the older Cora, Queen of Hearts and Regina’s mother until Snow White tricked Regina into killing her own mother. McGowan was cast to play the young Cora for a backstory episode about the evil matriarchal queen, called “The Miller’s Daughter.”

While we have no intel on what the storyline for McGowan’s character will be, here’s what we do know so far. The Wicked Witch is coming to Storybrooke and she is said to have ties to Regina. The second half of the season is said have great focus on the battle between these two. Could Cora fill in the blanks on whatever past Regina and the Wicked Witch share? Will it be a familial tie?

Is might also have something to do with Rumplestiltskin, who, as of the midseason finale appears to be dead. Since it was Rumple who taught Cora how to spin straw into gold and imbued her with magical powers, perhaps her backstory will help explain where he went and if he’s coming back.

McGowan will appear in the 18th episode of season 3 of “Once Upon a Time” sometime later this spring. Until then, we’ll keep you posted on any news or spoilers.
