With each new episode of the ABC fairytale drama "Once Upon a Time" comes a new character, and two major villains are heading to the series sometime in the future. On Wednesday, October 23 Wetpaint Entertainment broke the news that the creators are planning to bring Ursula and Cruella de Vil to the series as well as Disney princess Rapunzel.
The series which is currently airing its third season, features the Storybrooke gang trying to rescue Henry from the captivity of Peter Pan in Neverland with assistance from Tinker Bell and Captain Hook. Previous spoilers have been confirmed that one of the mermaids on the island will be none other than Ariel, played by actress Joanna Garcia Swisher, and will first appear in episode six.
Ariel's storyline will also include Prince Eric and Ursula although it's not clear when the villain will be introduced and who will play them. There has been speculation from the show creators that Regina could be Ursula, as she mentions a "certain mermaid" to Mr. Gold back in season one. Lana Parilla (Regina) has expressed that Ursula is one of her favorite characters in the past, and that level of evil would not be difficult for her character.
Another villain who has yet to make an appearance is Cruella de Vil, from "101 Dalmatians," the main character from that series already has. Pongo, the black and white dalmatian dog is owned by Dr. Hopper in Storybrooke. It's possible he could really be human and the curse made him a dog and that story just hasn't been explored yet. Cruella would be a good adversary for Regina in both Storybrooke and The Enchanted Forest, and the villain is also slated to get her own animated film sometime next year.
One character who hasn't been previously mentioned or hinted at is Rapunzel. Her character is normally locked away in a tower, but it's possible she could be rescued in the Enchanted Forest or maybe saved for season four. The show doesn't always keep the characters the same from the original fairytales, since Peter Pan is not a nice boy.
"Once Upon a Time" airs on Sunday nights at 8 p.m. on ABC. The next episode, "Good Form," will focus on the backstory between Peter Pan and Captain Hook and how their rivalry began. The episode with Ariel will air on Sunday, November 3.
