Anna and Elsa are going to have some familiar faces with them in Storybrooke. On July 28 TVLine reported that actors John Rhys-Davies and Tyler Jacob Moore are joining the cast of the fourth season of "Once Upon a Time," as two characters from "Frozen," the smash hit Disney film. Rhys-Davies will be voicing the role of Pabbie the troll while Moore will take on the role of Hans, the prince who wins Anna's heart. Both characters are expected to appear in at least one episode of the new season, which will debut in September.
Fans of the series knew that characters from the film would be appearing in the new season after Elsa was briefly teased in the season three finale. An actress playing Elsa was shown materializing out of some blue goo near Storybrooke, and actress Georgina Haig has since been cast in the part and seen on the set in costume. Show co-creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis have revealed that Anna and Kristoff will also appear in several episodes to round out Elsa's story. She is expected to be the villain for the first have of the new season.
Actress Elizabeth Lail landed the role of Anna and Scott Michael Foster will play Kristoff. Moore will portray Hans, who sweeps Anna off her feet in the movie when they meet for Elsa's coronation. The character is described as a "well bred prince" who feels he deserves to be king. In the film, he falls in love with Anna but it's really a trick to steal the throne. The series usually puts its own spin on the characters and changes the story lines to fit with the existing characters. He has previously appeared on the drama "Shameless" and the short lived series "GCB" on ABC.
The casting of Rhys-Davies was released on Twitter and is the first confirmation of characters from the movie that aren't human. Horowitz had previously confirmed that the beloved snowman Olaf would not be making an appearance through computer generated animation or otherwise, but Pabbie will most likely to animated. The rock troll is the one who cures Ann'a icy head after Elsa accidentally hits her with magic.
On July 28 Variety posted that both actors would appear in at least one episode, and help further the story of the royal sisters. Pebbie is one of the trolls that raised Kristoff in the film, but in the series he will have grown up in a castle just like Anna, Elsa and Hans. The fourth season will begin airing on Sunday, September 28 at 8 p.m. on ABC. The characters from "Frozen" will become involved with the fairy tale citizens of Storybrooke and may even appear in the Enchanted Forest. Like most new characters, they will also have connections to other characters through past interactions and magic.
