With the end of season 3 of “Once Upon a Time,” the stage was set for a “frozen crossover on the series based on fairy tales. As the season finale wrapped, it was quite clear that apparent that Anna had arrived in Storybrooke. Hypable shared word on June 7 that not only will Anna be making the leap but 2 other “Frozen” characters will be turning up in season 4, too. Read the season 4 spoilers ahead to find out who.
Show creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis have made no secret of their admiration for the Disney movie set in Arendelle. They have even talked about how awesome it would be to get some of the original vocal artists from the film to reprise their roles on the show. Kirsten Bell has expressed interest in doing just that, too.
Elsa, who is the reigning queen of Arendelle, is the sister with the ability to turn everything to ice. Her relationship with her sister, Anna, is the backbone of the movie and will figure strongly in her narrative on “Once Upon a Time.” This can be seen in the casting call for the three “Frozen” characters set to appear in the upcoming season, though just why Elsa was imprisoned in Rumplestiltskin’s vault is not addressed here.
The story will pick up with Anna and Kirstoff will be enjoying their honeymoon period as they learn to make adjustments. Kirstoff will be learning about sleeping indoors for the first time and Anna will be learning to juggle her time between her husband and her sister.
Here are the casting descriptions according to Hypable:
Elsa: The Queen of Arendelle, this late-20s/early-30s beauty long struggled to control her “chilling” powers and even unleashed upon her town an eternal winter during her coronation. Ultimately, she realized that the key to controlling her powers is love — namely, her bond with sister Anna — and now she is aware of the threat she poses if she were to lose control of her magic again.
Anna: Elsa’s slightly younger sister is a fun-loving, fearless optimist who often gets herself into situations where she is in over her head, yet is able to triumph due to her resourcefulness and can-do spirit. She values her relationship with her sister above all else.
Kristoff: This handsome, hearty, salt-of-the-earth ice cutter spent most of his life alone (unless you count his reindeer). He has a sometimes-gruff demeanor that can hide his deep love for Anna and her sister Elsa. When we first meet Kristoff on Once, he is adjusting to life at the castle — including sleeping indoors for the first time in his life.
Who do you think would be best to play these characters when “Once Upon a Time” returns in the fall on ABC? We’ll keep you posted on casting news as we find out.
