Some changes will be coming to Storybrooke in the near future. On August 18 Entertainment Weekly posted the news that at least two characters will be getting some changes to their story during the fourth season of "Once Upon a Time," which is set to air this fall on ABC. Belle, played by actress Emilie de Ravin, will receive more backstory about her life before she met Rumplestiltskin. Captain Hook, played by actor Colin O'Donoghue, may get some more modern clothes so he doesn't draw as much attention to himself.
A new character that will be added for the new season will be Belle's mother, a role that has yet to be cast. She will introduce to viewers what Belle's life was like before she went to live with Rumplestiltskin, and how that impacted her future. The episode will also explain more about Sir Maurice, who is Belle's father. It will be interesting to see if her past can be connected in any way to the upcoming "Frozen" storyline.
O'Donoghue first made his appearance as Killian Jones/Captain Hook in the second season of the show, as a supporting character for the Neverland storyline. However, he was upgraded to a series regular for the second half of the season as well as season three. Season four appears to continue that trend, as Hook will continue to have scenes with Emma Swan. So far on the show, Hook has only appeared in his leather coat pirate outfit and thick eyeliner which has become his trademark.
On August 18 TVLine posted an interview with O'Donoghue, where he discussed his desire to have Hook wear more modern clothes in the upcoming season. He confirmed that Hook will get a wardrobe change for his days in Storybrooke, which will also lead to some funny moments. However, his original look will be present for at least the first few episodes. It's possible that Hook will also have some encounters with modern technology, which might not do over too well. The actor also mentioned having more scenes with Prince Charming in the upcoming season as well as Emma Swan.
The fourth season of the series is scheduled to begin airing on Sunday, September 29 at 8 p.m. on ABC. The season will be split into two halves, with the first half airing in fall 2014 and the second half airing in spring 2015. In addition to adding three characters from the Disney animated adventure "Frozen," actress Elizabeth Mitchell will also have a guest starring role. Some casting announcements have yet to be made and the series is currently filming in Vancouver.
The "Frozen" storyline will take up the first half of the season, with Elsa appearing in eight episodes and Anna appearing in at least six, although neither will be playing the villain. Kristoff will appear in at least six episodes and he is expected to have been raised in a castle and could have ties to Prince Charming. The series is known for putting a spin on popular Disney characters and season four will be no exception.
