The ABC drama "Once Upon a Time" has introduced a plethora of fairytale characters over the course of three seasons, and now a musician is heading to Neverland. On Friday, October 18 Wetpaint Entertainment revealed that rocker Marilyn Manson has been cast as the voice of the Shadow that steals children and takes them to Neverland. Shadow first appeared in season two as the silent and more sinister version of Peter Pan's shadow.
Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz are fans of the rocker and wanted Shadow to have a voice to "make our skin crawl" so the character would be even more terrifying. This is be one of the first television roles for Manson, who lends his voice to the character who will begin speaking sometime in season three. The voice of Shadow will be heard first in an episode of the series airing in November.
Born Brian Hugh Warner in Ohio, Manson took an interest in music during his teen years and bagn forming bands after interviewing Trent Reznor for an entertainment magazine. Manson's latest record, "Born Villain," was released last year. The musician has also appeared in several movies, including " Party Monster," "Jawbreaker," and "The Heart is Deceitful Above all Things."
"Once Upon a Time" season three airs on Sunday nights at ABC. Tune in to see how the ability to speak changes the character of Shadow and what Manson's voice adds to the role. The shadow of Peter Pan being able to speak is yet another adaptation given to the character from the original story.
