That’s right! The Wicked Witch on shared her evil plan for revenge on Sundays’ episode of “Once Upon a Time.” According to an April 7 report on Zap 2 It, Zelena is intent on finding a way to travel back in time.
In “It’s Not Easy Being Green,” Zelena’s backstory was explained. She learned she was adopted as a foundling after a tornado. Her parents knew right away that she could do magic but it freaked out her dad so she wasn’t allowed to use it ever.
She left home and visited the Wizard of Oz who turned out to be Walsh. He informs her she was actually Cora’s firstborn but because she couldn’t provide Cora a way to become part of the royalty, she was abandoned. Because Cora’s second daughter, Regina, elevated her to the status she sought, she raised her and forgot about Zelena.
She used the magic shoes the wizard gave her to find Regina’s world. There, Rumplestiltskin saw her potential and planned to use her to enact his curse. But when Zelena’s jealousy over the fact Rumple was still teaching Regina caused her to attempt to kill Regina, Rumple dispensed with her lessons. He, too, chose Regina over Zelena. The betrayal caused her inner feelings to manifest outwardly in the green skin she now has and she vowed to destroy Regina once and for all.
Since then, she has been collecting items - Prince Charming’s courage and an attempt at Regina’s heart – for a spell. The spell is intended to carry her back into the past for a second chance at a life. She wants to return to when Cora abandoned her and have a do-over, aka time travel.
Walsh told her it wasn’t possible but he’s not a true creature of magic so maybe he doesn’t know if it’s really possible. Obviously since Zelena is the villain, she will either be stopped before she can complete her spell or somehow converted to good like Regina and Rumple. We can only hope because if she is successful, it will undo everything and we will lose all our favorite characters.
"Once Upon a Time" airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
