‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2 casting news: Rena Sofer to play Snow White's mom

It’s always exciting when a new fairytale character is cast on ABC’s “Once Upon a Time.” TV Guide has reported on Jan. 9 that Rena Sofer of “General Hospital” fame will play the role of Snow White’s mother, Queen Eva. She will be seen in flashbacks in at least one episode sometime in March.

Sofer is best known in her role as Brooklyn-born Lois Cerullo Ashton on the ABC daytime drama. She was a favorite among soap lovers and now they will get a chance to see her in a completely different role. She has also appeared in “NCIS,” “Bones,” and “24.” 13-year-old Bailee Madison will be back as the young Snow White. We will see how the relationship between the Queen and the princess helped to make Snow who she really is.

Back in happier times, before Queen Regina became the princess’ evil stepmother, there was her real mom. She must be the one that gave young Snow White her good and caring side that viewers have come to love. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. What was it like for Snow to have both parents alive and well? What events led up to the Queen's death?

It was also revealed that Queen Eva has a surprising connection to someone that we already know. Who could that be?

Do you think Rena Sofer is a good choice to be Snow White’s mom?
