Once Upon a Time has been teasing fans for a week with the hashtag #OneWillDie on Twitter. Tonight we finally find out who is offed. Season Two has been great at giving us character backstories and tonight we get to delve into Cora's history.
Young Cora (Rose McGowan) is humiliated by Princess Eva. The princess callouses trips Cora while she's carrying flour and blames Cora for ruining her dress. Cora is forced to apologize to Eva on her knees. Once Upon a Time twists the story of Rumplestiltskin as Cora is the one who claims she can spin straw into gold. Rumple makes a similar bargain with Cora as in the fairytale, but with a spicier, romantic twist.
Meanwhile back in Storybrooke, Cora is determined not to control Mr. Gold, but murder him and steal his powers. It's a nail biting story as time starts running out for everyone. Snow finally turns dark side and decides to kill Cora to protect her family and also for revenge. Oddly enough, Snow seems much more human and approachable than when on her pedestal of goodness.
Snow still has her cursed candle (the one given to her by Cora). This time Snow places that curse on Cora's heart. She then gives Regina the heart and tricks the former Evil Queen into putting the heart back into Cora.
Spoiler: For one beautiful and terrible moment Cora truly loves Regina before she dies. Farewell, Cora.
'The Miller's Daughter' leaves a lot of unresolved questions including whether Regina truly is Rumple's daughter. And how did Cora and Princess Regina lose their throne?
