The flashback of the episode introduces viewers to Ariel! The best part about this storyline is that Regina pretends to be Ursula, and she is fantastic. In reality, Ursula is just a myth, which is an interesting twist to take to this tale. Well, everyone thinks she is a myth, but she makes her presence known to the Evil Queen at the end. It’s interesting that Regina summons Ariel at the end to go to Storybrooke. This will be a fun crossover type event, and it is an unexpected way to bring Belle and Storybrooke back into the fold. Are you excited to see Ariel in Storybrooke?
Pan’s change in the game occurs at the Echo cave. All of our heroes have to reveal their darkest secret. It was obvious what Charming’s secret was going to be, but the others were surprising. Seeing how these secrets affect the group will be interesting. There’s going to be obvious tension between Hook, Emma, and Neal, after all Hook’s secret is that he is falling for Emma, and Emma’s is that she hoped Neal was dead. Mary Margaret’s secret is interesting. The secret comes out of nowhere, but then again, it is her darkest secret. It does make sense that she would want to experience everything about having a child. Hopefully the next episode will show everyone working through the implications of the secrets. What did you think of everyone’s secret?
Here are quick thoughts on elsewhere in the episode. Hook comes clean to Mary Margaret and Charming about Pan telling him that Neal is alive. This is a surprising moment, but it does great things for Hook’s development. He goes for a second opinion, he goes to Emma’s parents, with the truth to figure out what to do. Hook doesn’t want to hurt Emma, but he doesn’t want to keep it from her. Regina reunites with Rumple, and she shows him that Belle is nothing more than a shadow. It is great to see the two of them united and scheming. Plus, it gives Rumple an interesting storyline. Him being alone in the forest is not that exciting. Another great touch is Regina coaching Emma on her magic. This is something that has been a long time coming. What did you think of the episode?
