Emma and Mary Margaret work on getting used to acting like mother and daughter, or well not acting like it. It’s nice to finally have this addressed because even though Emma called Mary Margaret mom, she isn’t comfortable doing it all the time. What’s even better is this all ties into Pan’s map challenge. What Emma is, at her very core, is an orphan. On the one hand, it is nice to only focus on Emma’s relationship with her mom, but it would be great to see more scenes between her and her dad. Hopefully now that Charming may start becoming sick, he will have some one on one scenes with Emma. What are your thoughts on all the family drama?
Peter Pan is proving to be interesting. He never comes off as completely menacing as people make him out to be. Hook calls him “a demon,” but aside from being taunting and mysterious, Pan hasn’t done anything truly horrible. The end line to Emma about how she will be an orphan by the end of her time in Neverland. As of now, all he has done is offer threats. There haven’t been any acts that show this evilness. Soon viewers will need to see Pan doing something evil. Do you buy Pan as being truly evil or demonic as Hook describes him to be?
Here are quick thoughts on elsewhere in the episode. The flashbacks this episode connect to what Emma is going through, thematically. Both Snow and Emma have to stop denying who they truly are in order to succeed. This is a nice connecting thread to have. Most of the time it is hard to determine when a flashback occurs in the grand scheme of flashbacks, but thankfully, this one it isn’t hard to learn. Belle makes an appearance in Neverland! This is an interesting twist, and it definitely gives something entertaining for Gold to do instead of wandering around the island by himself. Can Gold completely trust this apparition of Belle?
