Before he was Captain Hook, he was Lieutenant Killian Jones, and he had a ponytail. Everyone has hairstyles they regret. It’s good to know Hook isn’t any different. This is a great flashback. It allows viewers to see more of the man before the pirate, and it sheds light on Hook’s first encounter with Pan. Hook has lived a long life, but so far, viewers have only seen the pirate version of him, and it is great to see more. What’s interesting is that Hook becomes a pirate because of the dishonor he believes is present in the king’s rule. Do you think young Captain Jones made the right call in becoming a pirate?
If you don’t think Hook and Charming are the best bros ever, there is something wrong with you. Their scenes together are fantastic. It is nice to see them with people who aren’t a romantic interest. Typically Charming is with Mary Margaret, and Hook has been focused on Emma for a while. This is a nice change up in dynamic. Plus it is a way for the writers to explore storylines like Charming dying that they couldn’t explore if Charming was always with his family. Are you in love with the Hook and Charming bromance?
It’s hard to decide what to make of Henry, partially it is still hard to believe that he would give in to the Lost Boy ways so quickly. Thankfully, this episode shows that the Henry viewers know and love is still in there, even if he battling with swords. He still has dreams of returning home, and now that he knows his family is here, perhaps his believer heart will start believing in his family a little bit more. Speaking of the heart of the truest believer, it seems like Henry is magic. It’s a little weird to introduce Henry being magic since the writers haven’t really nailed down Emma’s magical powers yet. At least with Henry, it seems like his magic comes from him believing in things. What are your thoughts on Henry?
