“Good Form” aired on “Once Upon A Time” on Sunday Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. and focused on Hook’s past. Fans learned that he blames himself for his brother’s death and that is, in part, why he is desperate to help David.
In flashbacks, we learned that Hook or Lt. Killian Jones was a naval officer serving under his brother, Captain Liam Jones. Their mission for the king was to bring back specimens of a plant purported to cure any injury. Upon arriving on the island, the brothers are greeted by Peter Pan who warns them the plant they seek is not a curative but contains deadly poison. Hook is inclined to believe Pan but Liam wants to complete their mission. They squabble over the morality of their king seeking a poison which he can use to defeat their enemies and Liam purposefully scratches himself with the thorns, unwittingly poisoning himself.
Hook, desperate to save him, turns to Pan. A spring on the island contains a cure but comes with a price. Hook says he’ll gladly pay any price to save his brother. Pan warns him not to leave the island or he’ll pay the price. Once cured, Killian turns to ask Pan what the price is but Pan has disappeared. When the brothers leave the island, Liam falls dead and Killian realizes only too late that the price for the cure is that you can never leave the island. Angered by the king’s deception and the loss of his brother, Killian rallies the rest of the sailors and convinces them to become pirates with him.
In present day Neverland, Pan offers Hook a deal – kill David to p[rove his loyalty and he will let him and one other person – Emma – leave Neverland. Otherwise he will have to stay and become his servant. Hook neither accepts nor refuses the offer.
David overhears the conversation and doesn’t trust Hook. Hook explains the story of his brother to David after tricking him into accompanying him to the site of the curative spring. David understands he will have to stay on the island but the price is worth it if he can help his family rescue Henry.
Back in camp, David tells the group that Hook saved his life when they fought the Lost Boys. They drink a toast to him and David tells Hook, he felt his heroics should be known even if they had to bend the truth a little bit. The celebration leads to the long awaited kiss between Emma and Hook.
