Snow and Charming defeat The Evil Queen and take over the kingdom in the fairytale land flashback. It’s always hard to try to figure out the order of the flashbacks. It’s one of the continual annoyances of the show. This flashback does do a great job of providing contrast to what is happening in Storybrooke at the moment. That seems to be the main purpose of this flashback. Other than that, the best part of the flashback is seeing the round table discussion of what to do about the Evil Queen. Did you enjoy the flashback?
Regina killed Archie, or did she? For a little bit, this murder investigation actually comes off as a murder investigation. Emma believes Regina’s innocence and works on gathering evidence even though David and Mary Margaret are quick to believe that Regina is guilty. It would have been great to throw in some discussion of how exactly to conduct a proper police investigation considering magic or even how to serve justice. The writers could have also thrown in more of Emma using her superpower. There is a moment where Emma says she believes Regina’s shock is genuine when she learns Archie is dead, but Emma could have used it when talking to Gold. How do you think the investigation went?
Gold gets Emma to use magic. This is definitely a big moment considering Emma’s magic has only come out when Emma is in survival mode. Gold has definitely taken an interest in Emma’s magic, and it would be great to see his magic lessons continue. Emma hardly has a grasp on how to use magic, and it would be great to see Gold has a teacher. In fairytale land flashbacks, Rumple has given lessons to Regina, and it would be interesting to see if Gold’s methods have changed since then. What did you think of Emma using magic?
