Regina: “Have we met before?”
Robin: “I’d doubt I’d ever forget meeting you. Unless of course it was during that pesky year that no one can recall.”

The search for Rumple is on! In Storybrooke, this basically means wandering around trying to find him. In the enchanted forest, Belle and Neal head to his castle for clues on how to bring him back. The enchanted forest storyline is alright. It is great to see the Belle try to help Neal the way she once tried to help Rumple. Also, the flashback shows one other important thing. Rumple gave up control of his power in order to save his son. He has come a long way since season one. It is a little unclear why Zelena waited for Belle and Neal in order to bring back Rumple. Couldn’t she have made some random person use the key? It is still unclear how long Zelena was in the enchanted forest before the curse sent everyone back. What did you think of the flashback in this episode?
Fare thee well, Neal. Before I say anything, let me say that I actually did like Neal. He was an interesting character, and it isn’t hard to see the chemistry between him and Emma. However, nothing about his death made me sad, and I cry at almost everything. His death scene feels like the writers wanted people to be upset. Rumple and Emma are both crying, but it wasn’t there for me. I was more upset when Neal was shot and fell into a portal. Perhaps this is because throughout the episode, there was something off about Neal’s timing, or maybe it is due to the fact that he has been gone since “Once Upon a Time” came back from hiatus. Up until this episode, he was barely even in the flashbacks, so it’s almost like you are used to him not being there. It would have been great to see him and Belle tell the others their plans about resurrecting Rumple, or even just saying goodbye. It’s not as if they could have slipped away unnoticed. There could have definitely been more of Neal with Charming and Snow in fairytale land discussing Emma or any number of things. Emma’s conversation with Henry about Neal did make me tear up, and I’m sure if Henry had his memories, that conversation would have made me cry. Did Neal’s death upset you?
Here are some thoughts on elsewhere in the episode. Emma uses magic to separate Neal and Rumple. It seems strange that when Emma needs to, she can basically do whatever magic she wants. There has not been any real lessons or instruction. Maybe to use magic all you have to do is concentrate on what you want to happen. The writers need to clear some of this up. Emma can’t simply use magic when it is convenient. Regina runs into Robin in Storybrooke, and even learns of his lion tattoo. It is about time that this happened, and it is great that it happens in Storybrooke. Regina does not remember her connection with Robin during the year that no one remembers, so right now, she is fleeing from the potential of true love. It will be interesting to see how Regina handles this news, and to watch the sparks fly in both the past and present. Do you ship Outlaw Queen (Robin and Regina)?
