Charming stumbles upon Rapunzel in her tower back during the year that no one remembers. This is an interesting way to still do the new fairytale character introductions, but also keeping the timeline in the missing year. What is still unclear is how long everyone had been in the enchanted forest during this flashback. It sounds like it has been three months, since when we switched to present day, it says nine months later. However, Robin showing Charming the golden arrows that Regina gave him for helping her break into the castle makes it sound like everyone has not been in the castle for long. It seems strange to think that it took everyone three months to make it to their castle, but who knows. What are your thoughts on the timeline?

Rapunzel and Charming both struggle with Night Root in this episode. The twist on Rapunzel is that she put herself in that tower. Her fear is keeping her there. There isn’t a wicked witch, which is great because we’ve got enough of those at the moment. Charming, in the flashback, goes to get Night Root because he is scared of failing his new kid like he failed Emma, and that fear is still there today in Storybrooke. It would be fantastic to have a conversation between Charming and Emma about this. Zelena uses Night Root on Charming in order to get a symbol of his courage. The way Regina talks about it, it sounds like this broken sword may be more danger than it initially seems. However, it is difficult to see what Zelena can do with the sword hilt. Charming will still be courageous without it, but perhaps, there is some power or magic in the sword that Zelena can harness. What is your theory?

Emma, Charming, and Hook are on a mission to locate the Wicked Witch. It is nice to see that magic is not always the answer. After all, Charming finds a clue in Regina’s office that she missed when she was looking over her office for magical clues. Emma has realized that Hook has been lying about the circumstances that lead to him coming to save her. There aren’t any answers given, but the question is there. Thankfully, they learn that Rumple is alive and well in Storybrooke. It would have not been fun if the writers had kept that a secret for an episode or two longer. Rumple is not all that interesting in a cage, especially since he seems to not be in control of his mind. What is interesting is that they don’t actually see Rumple because he decided to run for it, which does not make much sense considering Zelena is in possession of his dagger. What do you think Rumple’s plan is?
