Once Upon a Saturday, a children's book by Leslie Lammle

Local Spotlight: Once Upon a Saturday. Leslie Lammle, HarperCollins. Jan. 2009

June, a little girl with a big imagination finds a way to make every task fun, no matter how humdrum, even if the task is eating oatmeal.

In this delightful children's book written and illustrated by Leslie Lammle, June's plans a day of adventure. The only obstacle is a long list of chores. Drawn in a graphic novel format, June's imagination grows to match the challenge of each item on the list. While collecting the mail, sweeping the stairs, or cleaning under the bed, June accomplishes each of her original goals.  This lively story underscores the importance of approaching life's less-than-thrilling necessities with a positive attitude.

Once Upon a Saturday is the first of three books for HarperCollins. Leslie Lammle's watercolor and pencil illustrations have appeared in numerous newspapers, magazines and online publications.  Some of these include the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Threads, Risk Management, Eating Well,  Lore Magazine,  and Wine Enthusiast. Once Upon a Saturday is available at Harper Collins. The second book, Pajama Pirates, written by Andrew Kramer, and illustrations by Leslie Lammle will be available Fall 2010.
