One of our therapy cats and her handler moved from Las Vegas recently back east.
We were so sad to lose this amazing Pet Partner team but their life led them back home.
Even though Dancer is a cat she is a Love Dog forever! She never minded working alongside the dogs. In fact she and Kirby were an awesome team. What could be better than a dog and a cat on your bed?
Dancer and her owner moved just a few weeks ago but are already volunteering in their new community. They couldn’t wait to find an appropriate facility and are now bringing their very special love and joy to residents in an assisted living and memory care unit.
The beauty of being a Pet Partner is you are welcomed everywhere, in fourteen countries. So moving back home was great for them personally and even better for Dancer as she could resume what she loves to do very easily.
Dancer's owner sent this message to her friends in Vegas:
“Dancer went back to work today at an assisted living and memory care unit! She was a little nervous the first few minutes and kept her eye on me but after sniffing the air for about 3-5 minutes, she settled right in to what she does best!! We spent about an hour visiting with 6 residents and 5 staff members. Bless her heart, she gave a little meow only to let me know she was ready to go home! The staff and residents could not believe a cat walked on a leash while wearing a pink hooded jacket (it’s cold here!)”
When it is time for their two-year renewal they can either locate a Pet Partner Evaluator in her new area or fly back to Las Vegas with Dancer for me to re-test her. Boy, would I love to do that.
Las Vegas may have lost one of our best therapy cats, but now she is now spreading her unique kind of therapy to her new friends. We thank them for a wonderful year in Vegas and celebrate all you are doing to educate people about therapy cats.
