Once a hero, now a zero? Thoughts on the saga of Lance Armstrong (Video)

Lance Armstrong, if you had not admitted to doping, this article would never have been written. But admit to it, you did, while revealing in an interview with Oprah that what you have been denying for some time is the truth, after all. But we don't like to see our heroes tarnished with a broad brush of dishonesty.

Where do you go from here, Lance Armstrong? What is left? You took the sports public's belief in you and tore our dreams asunder; you ripped those dreams apart when we found out you had feet of clay, and that you were never really a hero, after all.

The only good thing we see to come out of this debacle will be if it prevents others in the world of sports from doing anything similar to what has happened here. Dishonesty never pays. Oh, it may pay in the short-term, but as any one can see now, with this loss of prestige, the loss of medals, the loss of the records and yes, the loss of money - this dishonesty did not pay. The results did not justify the means, and we do hope the final results are well remembered by any and all future sportsmen in all fields.
