It is said that the new moon is a time to sow, and the full moon is the time to reap what we have sown. Tonight, let us reflect upon what we would like to sow in the coming month, as summer ripens into autumn. Is it good health? Better relationships? More money? More love? All of these personal goals are great. However, let's not miss this opportunity today and tonight to sow some transpersonal goals as well, for the world is sorely in need of our loving intentionality.
As stated in an ironic and hilarious memo allegedly put out by John Cleese (see below) "Greece is collapsing, Rome is in disarray, and the Iranians are getting aggressive. Welcome back to 430 BC." Conflicts escalating in the Middle East are turning into an invitation to WWIII, it seems, in a bid to keep the dollar relevant and the oil in stock and use. The former may be a mistaken assessment, but killing people who killed people to show them that killing is wrong is, of course, absurd. And since when did another country's internal issues become such a matter of national security? Sounds very suspicious.
Regardless of what you think about the horrific gas attacks in Syria, it is only rational that more killing will add to more suffering in the region, which could very well have the opposite effect than intended. And what's the rush? Why are we, after the debacle in Iraq over WMDs, so eager to jump in and get involved in a situation with murky proof at best? It seems like the folks in Washington are completely out of touch with humanity. Millions of people of lesser clout and privilege have their lives and futures at stake, while Senator John McCain plays poker (and loses thousands of dollars, gosh darn it!) during the Senate Confirmation hearings on Syrian war.
So my urge to you, on this new moon, is to meditate. To take a few moments out of your busy day to find silence and stillness in your mind. (See links below if you need instructions). And, when you are meditating and have attained gaps between your thoughts, send out some love. Send some love to Washington, to our president and congresspeople. Send some love to the people suffering in Syria and elsewhere. Send sanity. Send waves of peace and patience, that we may have the wisdom to proceed only when the action is one of universal best interest.
Anything related to oil production is not in that universal best interest. We all know what petroleum use is doing to this planet. So let's align ourselves with health and life, peace and love, wisdom and sanity, and let's bring them forward. It's up to us now.
