On this day, June 5, 1895 William Boyd was born. An actor: he appeared in 66 films through 1948. He bought the rights to the character that he created in 1945, then starred in a successful TV series in the 1950sbased on the same character Boyd died September 12, 1972. For those old enough to remember, we knew him best as Hopalong Cassidy:
