This Examiner joined Tony Denison (Malcolm) on the set with the cast and crew.
Clarity defines what a man would do in the name of love. How far would he go?
Clarity explores the boundaries Malcolm must cross. This was a chance for Tony Denison to portray a “bad guy” again. It has been more than 25 years since Tony’s starring role as Ray Luka in the critically acclaimed drama Crime Story.
Tony discussed the plot. “Malcolm works for a wealthy family and occasionally performs some nefarious tasks for them. Does he commit murder? We cannot say, but Malcolm is not above performing illegal acts.
Malcolm, as the employee of the wife, takes care of her and the children.
Malcom is clearly not a bad person in that sense as he is acting for the families’ overall well-being.
Clarity is a drama and a mystery. The film gets dark about what people will do in the name of love. Alternatively, what they will do in the name of love for a family member. This is an interesting plot.”
The action began when 22-year-old Maggie collapsed into a coma. Diagnosed with a generic kidney disease at a critical stage, the doctors advised a kidney transplant from a family member. This became a problem. After strangers kidnapped Maggie in Mexico, they sold her to a wealthy family.
The adoptive mother had to find Maggie’s biological mother and persuade her to give a kidney to Maggie. Dana Melanie (Move-In Day, Tree house, Jurassic Block) portrays Maggie.
The camera operator and crew were preparing to shoot a scene in the doctor’s office. Tony Denison and Dina Meyer (Golden Shoes, Cyborg Nemesis, The Wrong Woman) entered the office to learn Maggie’s prognosis.
This Examiner took photographs during the filming. The small office, filled with production equipment, had little room to stand in a corner behind the camera operator, production assistant and producer/director/writer Peyv Raz. The scenes appear in this article.
Later Peyv examined a gun for another scene. They were carefully preparing the blanks and real bullets.
Since much of the plot is a secret there is little more to add. The film spans more than 20 years.
After shooting at nine different locations around Las Vegas, Clarity wrapped up their first segments of the film. They continue shooting in Mexico this January 2014. With editing and post production, Clarity should appear after March.
Pevy Raz wrote 21 screenplays and Clarity will be his first feature film. Peyv plans to produce a horror film next.
