On Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, The Dream Downtown rooftop lounge PH-D was the scene for the 2014 Heineken US Open Kick Off party. Party guests were greeted with cold bottles of Heineken and a US Open photo booth picture behind the net complete with props. DJ Politik brought the beats that kept everyone moving. He even let actress and newly minted "Dancing with the Stars" judge, Julianne Hough, try her hand at playing DJ. The PH-D roof top deck provided a spot to cool off and enjoy the amazing view and sliders and grilled cheese sandwiches made especially for the event by celebrated Parm Chef, Mario Carbone, The event saw a reunion of Twilight co-stars Ashley Greene and Nikki Reed. Also spotted at the event was rapper Murda Mook.
This US Open party is one of many fabulous event and activations Heineken curated this summer. The brand interrupted the routines of select New York residents who were ready and willing to step outside their comfort zone. These individuals were invited for a one-of-a-kind experience at the Gansevoort Park with a VIP music experience courtesy of Heineken, where attendees were able to hear music from QuestLove, Sporting Life / Ratking and Princess Nokia. In addition, individuals were also invited to another customized experience with an intimate dinner with Dinner Lab at Be Electric Studios.
These interruptions are part of Heineken’s Routine Interruptions campaign, which is built off the insight that very often people are guilty of falling into routines in their cities and fail to veer off their beaten path. Wednesday and last night’s experiences mirrors what SNL legend and Portlandia star Fred Armisen found out in the social experiment, “The Payphone,” which takes a comedic look at how willing jaded New Yorkers who walk by a ringing payphone, dare to answer and are willing to walk into the unknown to see what is waiting for them. Also, the commercials are everywhere, but Broadway star and Tony award winner Neil Patrick Harris is the front man for the recently reformulated Heineken Light. NPH recently partnered with Heineken Light to celebrate the“Best Tasting Low Calorie Lager” award received at the 2013 World Beer Championships.
On Wednesday, August 20, Jimmy, rooftop lounge at the James Hotel, experienced the kick off of the Disaronno Terrace event. This was the first of its kind in the United States. This popular European event was filled with Disaronno themed drinks and amazing music. It was the perfect event to enjoy the sunset, drink some cocktails and dance a little. DJ’s Alexandra Richards and Elle Dee performed a wonderful set. With contemporary house music and pop, it set the perfect mood. Beautiful people all around that took this night to the next level. We had both an elegant and jubilant evening fueled by Disaronno inspired cocktails, especially the famous Disaronno sour. The cocktails where perfect for the summer mood and party scene and you could tell the crowd was very satisfied by the taste. As the summer turns to fall and we begin to reflect on the summer’s most interesting events. It is safe to say that Disaronno Terrace was definitely one of the summer’s most amazing events. I can guarantee next time Disaronno throws an event in the city I will be there.
