Last night, Teen Vogue celebrated their 10th birthday along with March cover girl Chloe Grace Moretz’s “Sweet 16” with Aeropostale in New York City, where some of today’s teen sensations came out to support the star. Icona Pop rocked the house with a special performance of “I Love It” amongst other hits, while DJ Kate Nash spun tunes throughout the night. There was also a surprise performance by America's Most Talented Kids winner, Tori Kelly. It was a family affair as Chloë Grace Moretz arrived with her four brothers -- Brandon, Trevor, Colin, and Ethan and their mother, Teri. She was surprised by her onscreen mother in the upcoming remake of the classic film, Carrie – Julianne Moore who arrived with her son, Caleb. Nearly 200 friends and fans were in attendance, including Victoria Justice (Victorious), Sarah Hyland (Modern Family), Ansel Elgort (Carrie), Katie Findlay and Chloe Bridges (The Carrie Diaries), Annabelle Dexter-Jones, and Elle King.
The purple-lit room was packed and filled with buzzing excitement. Icona Pop (Aino Jawo and Caroline Hjelt), gave Chloe a special surprise when they sang her “Happy Birthday” in Swedish in front of a very impressed audience. Chloe and Julianne Moore shared a warm hug.
Examiner.com was on the red carpet where we chatted with Jake T. Austin, who discussed his personal style. He said, “I’m a little bit all over the place, different textures, different colors…all at the same time nothing too crazy.” His upcoming projects include ABC’s Family “The Fosters” and the upcoming film “Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.” “I try to stay busy and work as much as possible,” he said. Sarah Hyland, from “Modern Family,” spoke about her various styles. She basically dresses whatever she “feels like in the morning” whether that’s “happy” or “90’s grunge.”
Miss USA 2011 Alyssa Campanella also appeared at the party and posed with Victoria Justice for some photographs. Both women smiled pleasantly as cameras snapped away. Campanella discussed her love of Elie Tahari and how they have been really generous to her with clutches, gloves, and jackets. She also mentioned how there are a lot of fans and girls who tell her “I wanna dress like you…How can I look like you when I’m on a budget,” which is why she likes to go bargain shopping and instagram in outfits from Forever 21 and H&M, to show that “you can look stylish like Miss USA, but on a budget.” She is hoping to work more with The Food Network and eventually have her own food show.
The evening unveiled Moretz’s new campaign for the Aéropostale brand 2013 spring/summer season. Surrounded by editors, friends, and an elite group of “It Girls”, Chloë and her friends were on their feet dancing into the night. Teen Vogue and Aéropostale selected 50 lucky readers for the experience of a lifetime – an exclusive invite to blow out the candles with Chloë for her 16th birthday! To celebrate in style, 16 mannequins featuring Chloë’s favorite pieces from the fashion brand were styledby Teen Vogue editors and are available for purchase online and in Aéropostale stores.
