At The Studio at Lincoln Center, b michael America Couture’s Fall 2013 line opened to the dramatic and edgy “Warrior Concerto” by The Glitch Mob with jewel toned gowns of silk/wool tapestry and double-faces wool crepe. b micheal was inspired to create a collection that appeals to our innate desire for love of life and to feel beautiful. He looked to create a line that was opulent yet modern. The construction of the gowns was impeccable with multiple panels forming body-flattering shapes. The models hair by Aveda was pulled into intricate French twists and make up was a subtle lip and dramatic eye.
“This Collection was inspired by beauty and the beauty of life, as I imagined the women who would wear these dresses in the various scenarios that comprise their lives. This is unabashed elegance and opulence and I really wanted to celebrate women and embrace life to the fullest,” adds B Michael.
One most interesting looks from the line; jade silk-faced wool floor-length gown with feather seams crossing the bias skirt diagonally ending in a short train topped by a sable cape. The wraps and capes in the line were not to be overlooked. The gorgeous stone curly lambs fur capelet with sable collar over a blue and stone embossed silk evening dress was subtle yet breathtaking.
The shorter dresses were shiftswith nod to the Mad Men era. Gloves were prominent throughout the line but the stand out was the two-toned opera length gloves worn with several of the looks.
Notable on the front row were lawyer and TV personality Star Jones, ABC News journalist Deborah Roberts, Jean Shafiroff, Phylicia Rashad, Kathryn Chenault, Actress Tamara Tunie with husband, jazz vocalist, Gregory Generet and Valerie Simpson of the duo Ashford & Simpson.
