The five-piece band Karnivool from Perth, Australia, is definitely making a name for themselves in today's heavy rock landscape. As Rolling Stone magazine points out, the band creates "sprawling work of melody, mood, tempo and musicianship."
Karnivool had a breakout appearance at Austin's 2010 SXSW Music Festival and the band is continuing a tour of the U.S.
The bandmembers were asked to comment on their favorite places to visit and perform:
New York City
"It's hard to go past this city without being dazzled by its perfunctory lights and dazzling street culture! It's a fast-paced city that never sleeps and we never seem to either when we're there, fitting in with the locals ... we do our best! For an Australian it's like stepping into a collection of memories from movies, sitcoms, TV dramas and other such places. What else can you say ... NYC is the Greatest city on Earth. I need to spend more time here. Gramercy Theatre was an amazing show!! More I say ... and soon." -- Hos
Memphis
"We had a night off in Memphis and went out in search of food, booze and blues ... we found all of the above and more ... This place had an unmistakable sense of heart ... slick, balmy and hard. Memphis equals rad." -- Kenny
Chicago
"Only passed through on one of our nights off on our 2007 tour, but instantly resonated with the soul of this amazing old city. Interesting mix of industry and arts/culture as well as a rich and intriguing history. Looking forward to getting back there in April and playing our first ever Chicago show." -- Drew
