Disney star Zendaya Coleman is forging a serious music career for herself with debut single "Replay." Her slinky R&B track has been making moves on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. This week, it climbed to no. 68 on the tally, Billboard reported on Friday.
Coleman got her big start as a star of Disney's "Shake it Up," but now she is reaching a broader audience with her music. She first released "Replay" in July and buzz slowly started building around the track. It debuted on the Hot 100 chart four week ago and it reaches a new peak this week at no. 68. For Zendaya, there is only up from here.
"Replay" is a R&B track with glitch-y production. The 17-year-old singer sounds beyond her years when she sings, "Wanna put you on repeat / Play you everywhere I go." The slinky single has drawn favorable comparisons to the work of late singer Aaliyah.
In the music video for "Replay," Coleman channels Cassie's "Me & U" when she gets down in front of a dance studio mirror. The glowing clip is the perfect introduction to Zendaya, the singer. It has so far garnered over 16 million views on YouTube.
Zendaya's self-titled album was released on September 17.
