Pop singer Bridgit Mendler's “Ready or Not” breaks through the top 50 of Billboard's all-genre Hot 100 singles this week. The music chart company refreshed its chart on Thursday to reveal the breezy pop song's new peak at No. 49.
Mendler is the latest Disney starlet to crossover from television to music. The “Good Luck Charlie” actress is housed on Hollywood Records, a former label for Hilary Duff and Miley Cyrus, with Selena Gomez & the Scene and Demi Lovato. Her debut single, “Ready or Not,” gradually made its way into the lower tiers of Billboard's Hot 100 before jumping 45 spots this week to No. 49.
She co-wrote “Ready or Not” with hit songwriters Emanuel “Eman” Kiriakou and Evan “Kidd” Bogart. Over the pop track's reggae-influenced production, Mendler asserts herself as a cool chick on the lookout for fun. “Ready or not, here I come / Where you at? / The night is young,” she sings on the chorus, borrowing the medley from The Fugees' 1996 hit of the same name.
The singer on the rise has performed the upbeat track numerous times, most recently on a high profile spot during season 2 of FOX's “The X Factor” last month. Its adventurous music video, with Bridgit and a group of friends storming the streets of Hollywood, has been viewed over 18 million times on Youtube as of press time.
Mendler's debut album, “Hello My Name Is...,” has so far peaked at No. 49 on Billboard's albums chart. Disney renewed her “Good Luck Charlie” series for a fourth season back in July.
