With the just-completed 2013 World Wrestling Championships -- not to mention the International Olympic Committee vote to restore wrestling to the Summer Games a couple weeks ago -- “On The Mat” will feature two guests to talk about the international state of the sport on the broadcast for Wed., Sept. 25, the radio show announced Tuesday.
This week's guests will be Jason Bryant and Scott Siepker.
Bryant is the editor for Amateur Wrestling News. He will provide a report on the 2013 World Championships that took place in Budapest, Hungary last week. Team USA claimed four medals -- gold for men's freestyle wrestler Jordan Burroughs, and bronze medals for women's freestyle wrestlers Alyssa Lampe, Elena Pirozhkova and Adeline Gray.
Known as the Iowa Nice Guy, Siepker provides weekly football updates for ESPN. He made a video about wrestling’s inclusion in the Olympics called “Wrestling Nice” prior to the International Olympic Committee’s decision in September.
“On the Mat" is a presentation of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum. The show can be heard live on the Internet at www.kcnzam.com or locally in Northeast Iowa each Wednesday from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Central on AM 1650, The Fan.
