Most comic books on the surface seem to be nothing more than well-built humans wielding equal parts, fighting, capes, superpowers and Spandex, while charging in to endless battle.

Some books like Houston's own Eternal Studios/ Archangels comics and Angel Comics, seemed to bring forth deeper meaning. But one not using costumed heroes at the forefront.

But to team at RZR Comics, superheroes can and do have a deeper meaning, one that reflects their personal faith.

During Wizard World Comic Con in Austin, I had the opportunity to speak to Adam Salyer and Robert Lee Merriwether abut their books and the inspiration behind them.

What inspired the characters in the books ?

Robert Lee Merriwether: My ex-wife's family and Adam family, inspired the characters.

What led from your families as inspiration to superheroes ?

Robert: Well, I always wanted to make my friends superheroes, but I thought why not my family ?

What is your first book about ?

Robert: The Golden Age of Comics, and The Fall From Grace. And the kids and grand-kids of the Golden Age heroes redeeming their names.

Do you have other books planned ?

Do you have other books planned ?

Robert: We have other books planned in the series, the next series is the original or origin series that takes place in 1963 during the Kennedy assassination. But in our book, he gets saved by the first superhero which changes reality.

Besides family what brought doing these books about ?

Well, this (comic books) has been my passion my whole life, I grew up with depression and schizophrenia, and these helped me to get on.

What part do you play Adam ?

Adam Salyer: Well, I helped write it. Robert wrote the storyline.

Robert: I plotted it and he did the rest.

So Adam your scripting it ?

Adam: Right.

With the big two (Marvel and DC) kind of making their heroes now not so heroic, becoming kind of borderline, do you see your books going back to heroics ?

Robert: Well ,we're going to do a Christian series about Lucifer's fall and the war that followed and how that affects the world. We want to bring our faith into it in a way that people enjoy it.

So kind of the C.S. Lewis approach to story telling ?

Robert: Right.

Adam: We want to tell it right, Hollywood gets it wrong(about our faith) and we want to get it right.

Robert: I'm doing this for God. He gave the strength to live my dream.

RZR has other book planned for the future within the Coalition line.
