Flying Saucer Draught Emporium, Big Texas Beer Fest

It may be hard to believe, but the Big Texas Beer Fest is already in its third year. What started as an event with around 80 breweries pouring 300 different beers has seen those numbers grow to 105 and over 400 respectively. Happening Saturday, April 5 from 2 to 6:30 p.m., the festival once again takes place in the Fair Park Automobile Building in Dallas. A full beer list has been released, or you can check out my companion guide over at Beer in Big D. General admission tickets are still available and can be purchased here.

If you can't wait to get the party started, the Flying Saucer on the Lake has you covered. They are throwing a Big Texas Beer Fest Pre-Party on Friday night featuring a quintuple tapping of beers from Real Ale's Mysterium Verum series. Enjoy one of those or the brewery's new Hefeweizen while you rub elbows with Master Brewer Erik Ogershok.

Another option for activities before as well as after the festival will be going on at the Holy Grail Pub from Friday through Sunday, April 4-6. It's a Game of Thrones Weekend, where they'll be tapping Ommegang Take the Black Stout and Iron Throne in addition to offering up dishes made from the Unofficial Game of Thrones Cookbook.
