On tap: DFW craft beer events, week of February 17

Examiner picks of the week

Dallas Beer Kitchen, Cook Hall, Lakewood Brewing Company, Goodfriend

Craft beer, heavy metal and BBQ. It doesn't quite roll off the tongue like hot dog, apple pie and Chevrolet, but if the combination sounds good you should probably be heading to the Dallas Beer Kitchen tonight. They'll be hosting a Real Ale BBQ Dinner featuring a custom heavy metal playlist crafted by Real Ale head brewer Erik Ogershok.

Come midweek, introduce yourself to one of the area's newest craft breweries. Wednesday night, the Cobra Brewing Company will be holding its public launch at Craft & Growler as part of that establishment's regular Keep the Glass Night.

As for the weekend, the musical theme returns for the Dallas Brew Bus Opera Brewery Tour (purchase tickets here). The Bus has teamed up with The Dallas Opera (TDO) for an experience where you'll learn about what three local breweries have in common with TDO's current season By Love Transformed.

Lastly, Sunday options include ¡Ay Dios Amigos! at Goodfriend featuring Lakewood brews barrel-aged in Puro Verde Tequilas and the 18th Anniversary Big Bad Ass Beer Brawl at the Addison Flying Saucer.
