On Saturday night, Justin Bieber apologized for smoking marijuana, on camera. He did it, though, in character as he hosted last night's "Saturday Night Live."
During a sketch entitled "The Miley Cyrus Show," Bieber played Miley's biggest fan, Pete DeFalco. Vanessa Bayer, meanwhile, performed her always right-on-target spoof of Miley Cyrus.
DeFalco -- or Bieber -- bowed at the feet of his goddess Miley, saying she was "light years better than that douche, Justin Bieber." When told Cyrus was buddies with Bieber, DeFalco said "You're kidding right? He looks like a f (oops, almost) lesbian."
Continuing, Bieber as DeFalco said, "I also heard he got busted for smoking weed. And he's really sorry about it. And people make mistakes. And he's never gonna do it again."
The story broke in early January. Images of Bieber smoking blunts with his buddies, including Lil Twist, hit the Internet. Bieber never directly addressed the images, but he did tweet twice:
I see all of u. i hear all of u. i never want to let any of you down. i love u. and..thank u. #beliebers
like i said...2013...new challenges. new doubters...Im ready. We are ready. see u all tomorrow and everyday after that. #BELIEVEtour
It's unclear how sincere Bieber is in that sort of apology and promise. He is probably sincere in his apology, but in terms of the "never gonna do it again," more recent reports seem to indicate that promises of dropping pot -- and other recreational drugs -- may not be so easy.
Since the first incident, images of Bieber and Lil Za smoking blunts -- again, in a different incident, not the first -- have been shopped around to the media.
Bieber was also seen, along with Lil Twist and Lil Za, in images where the trio is surrounded by what appeared to be double cups used for sizzurp.
