'Omega Ruby' and 'Alpha Sapphire' get even more mega evolutions

Pokémon fans who have been eagerly awaiting the release of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, remakes of the franchise's third generation titles, were treated to a new trailer earlier today. This video showcases a few new Mega Evolutions, which were introduced during the beginning of the sixth generation. Horde battles will be making their way from Kalos to Hoenn as well, though it won't be exclusive to just wild encounters, as multiple trainers will challenge the player at once. Today's trailer also filled us in on a new special event and a few more details regarding cosplay Pikachu.

Some of the Pokémon who will be receiving new mega forms include Altaria, who becomes a lot fluffier (yet somehow more intimidating), post transformation and Salamence, whose mega form gives it a more streamlined appearance. Lopunny will also be getting the mega treatment as well. These aren't the only Pokémon who will be receiving new forms, as we've already seen alternative versions of Groudon and Kyogre, the two mascot legendaries.

The contests from the original games will also return in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Here, Pokémon will compete to show their appeal by using various moves. Different contest categories, such as cool and cute, are also set to return. The contest is fully animated now, with Pokémon displaying their abilities against a Substitute plushie. Maxing out the audience appeal will cause the contestant to mega evolve for an added bonus. The trailer also revealed that cosplay Pikachu can be used in regular battles outside of the competitions. These special outfits, which seem to be exclusive to the iconic electric mouse, appear as though they may give Pikachu access to special moves, though we aren't entirely sure yet.

Beginning on November 21st, which is the same day these games launch, North American fans will be able to receive a shiny Beldum as free downloadable content. This special Pokémon comes with a mega stone, so players won't have to worry about finding one if they want to use the new Mega Metagross in battle.
