As you head into the depths of Fall, with your clothing getting heavier, layers of everything being thrown on, and nearly every part of your beauty routine getting covered up, keeping up with the freshest beauty ideas is one way to help keep you feeling fresh, modern and confident- no matter how many layers you've got piled up.
One of the quickest, easiest and cheapest ways to update your look is on your nails. And conveniently, some of the most popular nail art trends have been popular now for a couple of years. With a quick tweak, you can have the freshest nails on the street.
First off, "ombre" coloring. Ombre- color that fades from dark to light, light to dark, or from one shade into a different one- started out as a hair color trend, and stayed super-popular for a while. Lately, the ombre in hair color has been slowing down in popularity, but ombre coloring on nails is still going strong. Some ideas is taking a dark or strong, bright shade from the tip fading toward the cuticle, from the cuticle fading outward, or one polish fading into another polish. It may take some practice to perfect the application, but once you've got that part down, this opens up a ton of nail design options.
Geometry is a word that brings up high school nightmares to plenty of people. But when it comes to nail art, adding a shape, pattern or even a simple line can completely change the look of your mani or pedi. You can do this with a decal, or with a polish that has a tiny brush, but you can also create the look with just the polishes you have at home. Try adding a diagonal line, a square, or a diamond shape to your ring fingernail. Once you're comfortable with that, try more sophisticated shapes like curved lines or circles. You can then try adding shapes or lines onto all five nails, or alternating the shapes. The options are endless.
One current nail trend is also a not very well-known idea- combining shades normally thought of as clashing or mis-matched. For example, using pink and orange in the same nail design. Typically, pink and orange are considered to be mismatched and are almost never used together, but combining the two in a mani or pedi may be the coolest thing you've worn all year.
Finally, don't be afraid to try something you've not done before- whether it's decals, nail accessories, airbrushing, or just a shade that's bolder than is normal for you, anything new will give you a style boost and will freshen up and modernize your style.
