Omaha police officer wins contest to race Matt Kenseth

Omaha police officer, Greg Hadcock, won a national competition to race the NASCAR star Matt Kenseth in time trial laps during the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Champions Week in Las Vegas, held last week.  Also included for Mr. Hadcock was the VIP treatment throughout the Champions Week and $17,000 if he beats Matt Kenseth’s fastest lap.  Hadcock, and two others, won the trip by entering Crown Royal’s Race Matt contest that was held throughout the season.

Saturday, December 3rd is when the race took place, and although Mr. Hadcock didn’t best Kenseth’s speed of 168 mph, the smile on his face says he is having a great time.  Not only did he get to meet the superstar driver of the #17 Crown Royal car, Matt Kenseth, he got to suit up and race Matt in time trials.  While behind the wheel of the #17 Crown Royal Ford Fusion, Hadcock hit speeds over 150 mph!  Besides providing the trip to Las Vegas, Crown Royal also invited Mr. Hadcock to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season ending banquet as a special guest.

Although the now three time champion Tony Stewart took home the hardware and was the guest of honor at Champion’s Week in Las Vegas, all of the drivers and fans came out on top.  Of the many events, a question and answer session with the top 12 drivers displayed the wit and camaraderie of the champion.  Other events of Champion’s Week included the NASCAR Fan Fest at the Fremont Street Experience Downtown, NASCAR Awards Ceremony, NASCAR Victory Lap; where drivers take the cars down the strip for some burnouts; and NASCAR After the Lap; where the Q&A session was at.  Tony Stewart presented many of the other drivers with his own “Stewie Award”, including "The Social Stewie" (Acknowledging the Year's Most Memorable Tweet) to Matt Kenseth for a tweet he sent about his wife.

Well wishes to Greg Hadcock in all his endeavors as he is called upon to protect the city of Omaha, and hope that this well deserved vacation was exactly what he needed.  Thanks to Zack Nobinger at Taylor Strategy for all the help he provided.
