Well, the first “official” promo for LOST’s final season is out – and, as promised, it has no new footage and tells us absolutely nothing:
But c’mon, you don’t really want to see spoilers this early in the game, do you? If Darlton has their way, there will be no clips released before the January 2010 premier of Season 6. Nada.
The hieroglyphs in this logo have been translated by
Egyptologist James Allen. They say: "Who is the Leader," or
"Who is the Guide."
There was previously a trailer shown at Comic-Con 2009, and a teaser promo at the D23 Expo to get everyone psyched, but this is the first montage specifically labeled “The Final Season.” In addition to being posted online, this promo aired during this week’s episode of Flash Forward … and go ahead, admit it, you stopped to watch!
Many media outlets also announced this week that LOST’s final season will not – repeat not – run uninterrupted (as previously reported) in light of the Olympic Games. Executive producer Carlton Cuse says ABC will air the first few episodes in January and then break for the Winter Olympics. The Games run February 12-28 and aren't even airing on ABC, but LOST will supposedly still break and resume their season in early March. An odd move for sweeps month, but with no confirmation from ABC, we’ll see how that breaks down.
At the Austin Film Festival last weekend, Damon Lindelof had this to say about LOST’s start date for Season 6:
Honest to God, they haven't given us a date yet. I don't even know what night it's going to be on. We've been on Wednesday at 9 for awhile, but now ABC's comedies are actually working. And I actually like Modern Family and Cougar Town, so I'm not sure that they'll move them.
I don't know what it means for us, but all I've ever heard is mid-to-late January. We're doing 18 hours -- two-hour premiere, two-hour finale -- so if we end in mid-May, we can't premiere any later than late January.
