Olympic wrestling gold medalist Henry Cejudo wins first MMA match

Operating out of Apple Valley, California, Gladiator Challenge has had many talented fighters competing for the organization. Gladiator Challenge will get another promising fighter. Henry Cejudo, a gold medalist in Olympic wrestling, has just earned his first win in Mixed Martial Arts and will soon fight for Gladiator Challenge.

Cejudo competed in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China and won the gold medal at only 21 years of age. He competed in the 121-pound weight class. After failing to make the Olympic team for the 2012 Olympics, Cejudo retired from wrestling. Months later, Cejudo decided to enter the sport of MMA.

On March 2, 2013, at Casino Del Sol Event Center in Tucson, Arizona, Cejudo entered his first MMA fight against Michael Poe. In the match, Cejudo, not surprisingly, attempted to close the distance between him and Poe, who tried to punish Cejudo with strikes. Cejudo managed to get a strong takedown and rain down strikes. The referee stopped the match, and Cejudo got the win.

Cejudo will fight again soon. On March 24, 2013, Cejudo will fight at the Sodoba Casino Outdoor Arena in San Jacinto, California for Gladiator Challenge.

At 26 years old, Cejudo is still young. He has competed at the highest level in wrestling. Perhaps one day, he can compete at the highest level in Mixed Martial Arts.

Highlights of Cejudo's first MMA match can be seen on Youtube.
