Olympic medalist Tim Morehouse launches new sports business broadcasts

Few athletes know more about sports business than 2008 Olympic Fencing Silver medalist Tim Morehouse. He has published and promoted a sports book, organized the launch of the “Fencing in the Schools” educational program, and even designed and market an athletic shoe customized for the needs of professional fencers. The USA Elite Shoes by Absolute Fencing are selling briskly. Starting this month, E!News is broadcasting expert reports by Morehouse that will take viewers behind the scenes of sports business from the perspective of busy athletes.

Morehouse’s first news broadcast aired January 23 on the E!Network. This interview with New York Rangers hockey player Brad Richards discusses the athlete’s new role as model and spokesperson for a trendy shirt company called Untuckit. The name might sound like an island resort in New England, but actually refers to a style of trim cut, button down shirts that are about the length of a polo shirt and do not need to be tucked behind trousers -- hence the name Untuckit. Anyone as fit as an NHL play will look presentable enough in one and several models have already sold out for this season.

Morehouse has also interviewed fellow Olympic athlete Shawn Johnson about her new business interest. The gymnast and “Dancing with the Stars” finalist is working with NIKE on a new promotion for the X-Box Kinnect product line. The game, called “Shawn Johnson Gymnastics,” is available for sale on Amazon.com.

Morehouse’s book “American Fencer” is also available on Amazon.com as well as at Barnes & Noble. Many fencing and Olympic fans are taking advantage of the opportunity to see him in person at book signings and fencing demonstrations at Barnes & Noble bookstores.
